I was looking for a new Bluetooth headset and expressed concern to the salesman about choosing the right one. He quickly picked the most expensive one ($100) advised me that I could purchase it, try it out and return it within 30 days if I didn't like it. I said okay, fine. At the sales register, he asked me to sign a digital pad to authorize credit card payment. He then completed the transaction, printed a receipt and placed everything in a bag. Away I went. Later, I opened the box and tried it out. Unfortunately, the headset would not stay in position while I wore it and several days later I returned to the store to get my money back.
I was unpleasantly greeted by the assistant manager (he saw the bag in my hand). I told him my intent and he just said "nope". I explained the story and he asked for my receipt. He pulled out a yellow highlighter, colored over the small print at the bottom of the receipt which had been previously placed into the bag without my knowledge (certainly without my consent) and put it under my nose. He then recited the policy that they don't do returns on headsets. The store had no posted return policy and when I asked on my first visit, the salesman had apparently lied about it.
